Kartell is famous throughout the world for having invented the culture of furniture and furniture for plastic interiors. Kartell was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, a chemical engineer moved by an inspiration: to create objects from plastic, a material of applications little explored until that moment. He then began a fruitful collaboration with the great designer Gino Colombini, winner of the company's first Compasso d'Oro prize in 1955.
